Finn and Hugh are the twin middle children of the Lutnear family on Aetna.

Teddy Lutnear is the oldest of Lewis an Julia Lutnear’s four children. He dreams of getting into the Unity science academy where he hopes that his studies will allow him a measure of freedom.

Little Jo is the four-year-old daughter of Lewis Lutnear the administrator of Utopia on Aetna. She is precocious and verbal.

Cathie Rose is Lewis Lutnear’s administrative assistant in Utopia.

Chuck Barlow is the proprietor of Chuck’s place one of two restaurants on Unity Orbital 1358.

Anna Prindle is a provisioner on her home planet of Sicily 4. She often travels to Aetna’s orbital where she has been a repeated companion of Jack Halloway for the last three years.

Todd is Molly Vargas’ husband. He works on the docks as a longshoreman and his wholly unaware of his wife’s activity as a major player in Jack Halloway’s smuggling operation.

Leanne is a server at Chuck’s Place on the Orbital 1358. Jack thinks about trying to take her home for the night.

Robert Logan works as the chief dock inspector on Aetna’s orbital. It’s his job to make sure that the shipments coming in and out of Aetna follow Unity regulations. He is, of course, deeply involved in Jack Halloway’s smuggling operation. In fact, he introduced Jack to the possibilities of smuggling through the Audit Division on the orbital when he was the station manager and Jack was an inspector. Robert had no interest in sticking his own neck out that far but saw potential in Jack, so when the moment came he gladly traded positions with hime. Robert has been working in the orbitals Administration and Inspection office for forty-five years.

Joe Fletcher (his last name is never mentioned) works as a dock inspector for Jack Halloway. While he is aware of the smuggling operation, he has little to do with its day-to-day operations. His job is to make the office legitimate by conduction cargo inspections and compliance audits according to Unity regulations.
